Old Castle is a historic landmark situated in Stuttgart's city center at Schillerplatz. It houses the Landesmuseum Württemberg, a museum showcasing artifacts that trace the region's history from the Stone Age through the Roman era to the present day. Visitors can explore the castle's Renaissance-style arcaded courtyard, which features cloisters and porticoes, as well as an equestrian statue of Eberhard I. along with Landesmuseum's exhibits.
Originally constructed in the 10th century as a water fortress to protect a stud farm, it evolved into the residence of the Counts and Dukes of Württemberg. The Landesmuseum's exhibits include a diverse collection of artifacts, providing insights into the cultural heritage of the region. The castle church, located within the complex, serves as a burial site for notable figures such as King Charles I of Württemberg and his wife Olga.
