The Apollon Theatre is one of Syros's major attractions and reflects its rich cultural heritage. This theatre witnesses some of the best and most important cultural events, operas, and theatrical works. The theatre dates to 1864 when it was constructed by Italian architect Pietro Sampo.
You can easily book a ticket to any performance you wish to see through their website. A comprehensive list of all the events being organised at the theatre can be accessed from their calendar of events. The first group of performers to first adorn the stage of the theatre was an Italian theatre troupe that also performed the world-famous Italian opera ‘La Traviata’ among other performances. Even though the theatre has witnessed several catastrophes and survived various damages, it has managed to maintain its standards and provide spectacular performances over the years. You can also visit the ‘memory place’, a museum just adjacent to it displaying memorable events, the history of the theatre, and pictures of important local and international artists who performed in the theatre.
