Ermoupoli

Ermoupolis is a quaint, beautiful town in Syros. You can meander around the town, observing the magnificent neoclassical architecture in old mansions, small churches, monuments, streets paved with marble, statues, town squares made of marble, and other such attractions. Some of the most popular sites of this town include the stunning Miaouli square, around which you can visit many local cafés and restaurants.

After walking for less than 10 minutes, you can also spot the magnificent building of the town hall. Some other important tourist sites include the Archaeological museum of Syros, cultural centre of Hermoupolis and the Apollo theatre. Historically, it was a significant centre of culture and sea fare during the 19th century. The town’s historical economic prosperity is reflected through not only its developed infrastructure, but its refined population. The prosperity combine with the picturesque architecture built by architects from Germany and Italy is the reason this town is also called Little Milan and Duchess of the Aegean.
