Kuala Sepetang, Taiping Overview

The coastal town of Kuala Sepetang is located near Taiping in Perak State of Malaysia. This quaint fishing village is also popularly known as Port Weld and is worth visiting for its history, culture and food. It is also the gateway to Kuala Sangga, a chinese settlement island village with no modern facilities. The village is also popular for its seafood.

The boat ride costs RM 28 and also includes a small trip to a floating fish farm. Kampung Seberang Chinese Village can be visited after crossing the Port Weld Bridge, which offers a perfect place for fishing and enjoy the eventide.   • The town of Kuala Sepetang is situated at a distance of 73 km from Ipoh, which can be covered easily in 1 hour via drive via Lebuhraya - Utara expressway.
  • Kuala Sepetang is also accessible by road from the sustainable city of Taiping. The 15 km distance can be covered easily in half an hour by road.
  • Bus number 77 plys from Old Town in Taiping to Kuala Sepetang.
  • Another alternative is to rent a car from Ipoh and go for a day trip to Kuala Sepetang.

The winter season, January to March, is the best time to visit Kuala Sepetang in Malaysia. The average temperature during these months ranges from 30℃ to 32℃. The summer months of May to July must be avoided as the weather is too hot and humid. The average temperature during summer ranges from 32℃ to 33℃. October to December is the rainy season which makes it impossible to explore places. It rains the most in the month of December, reaching more than 130 mm.
