Established in 2007, Tauranga Art Gallery has become one of the recent tourist attractions in the city of Tauranga with its award-winning exhibitions. The exhibitions held at frequent intervals are splendidly curated and bear Maori culture and heritage richness. The artists are primarily local and national, but the gallery also boasts international recognition, with talented artists from war and worldwide exhibiting their poignant and finessed artworks. The gallery is situated at the Wharf and Willow Street in the Western Bay of Plenty District, New Zealand.
The exhibitions are mainly education based. They have exclusive education and visitor programs to enhance the experience of the visitors. The gallery is unique in the sense that most events and exhibitions are tailored to align with the national education curriculum.
The gallery reeks of historical and contemporary aesthetics. The in house events are organized by the staff with special guided tours around it to fill you in about the historical and cultural significance.
Other than tours the gallery organizes debates, floor talks, seminars, screenings, performances and artist residencies.
