Nestled atop Mount Keeni near the tranquil Tbilisi Sea, the Chronicle of Georgia offers a captivating blend of history, art, and breathtaking views. Often referred to as the Georgian Stonehenge, this monumental masterpiece by renowned Georgian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli is a hidden gem that provides a unique perspective on Tbilisi's rich past. The 16 towering pillars, each over 30 meters high are intricately adorned with bronze reliefs depicting pivotal events in Georgian history and Christianity.
The lower sections feature scenes from the life of Jesus Christ, including the Last Supper and the Resurrection, while the upper portions celebrate Georgian royalty and heroes, such as Queen Tamar and Ilia Chavchavadze. The memorial also honors the 13 Assyrian fathers who spread Christianity in Georgia and includes a replica of St. Nino's grapevine cross. Despite its grandeur, this site remains relatively undiscovered, allowing visitors to enjoy a peaceful and reflective experience. Don't forget to explore the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary nestled behind the pillars.
