Tell Qasile is an archaeological site on the Yarkon river in Tel Aviv. Located within the Eretz Israel Museum, it was the first site to be excavated by the newly proclaimed state of Israel. The important excavations include three temples and a residential quarter.
The temples were constructed on top of one another, and many vessels were unearthed in the storage facilities. These include a cylindrical cultic stand, libation vessels and pottery stands. The area's south side also reveals workshops and storehouses and a large courtyard from the Abbasid era, founded in the 1980s. A former port city founded by the 12th century Philistines, the site provides the historical material significance of the culture of the Philistines. It became an archaeological ground in late 1948, with the first excavations taking place around 1948-1950.
