Mauritshuis, The Hague Overview

Located in The Hague's city center near the Binnenhof, the Mauritshuis is a renowned museum showcasing masterpieces from the Dutch Golden Age. Its collection includes iconic works like Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring and Rembrandt's The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp. The museum is housed in a 17th-century palace, offering an intimate setting to view over 200 world-class paintings.

It was nicknamed, "the jewel box" because of its shape. No other building in the Netherlands has such an amazing collection of paintings collectively known as the Royal Picture Gallery, housed in the palace since 1822. One of the most famous paintings at Mauritshuis is Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer. Other famous works include The Anatomy Lesson of Dr Nicolaes, View of Delft, The Bulk, The Goldfinch, Laughing Boy, Simeon's Song of Praise, Saul and David etc. These famous world-famous masterpieces are displayed in the former home of Count Johan Maurice, and at the Prince William V Gallery. At present, Mauritshuis is one of the top 100 Dutch heritage sites and a government-owned property, open for public visits.
