Rietveld Schroder House is a house full of history with unusual architecture, fascinating in terms of both indigenous and innovative interior design. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site located on Prins Hendriklaan.Highlights of the interior of the house include movable walls on the first floor.
It was a private residence until 1985 and acquired its present form in 1924. It was Gerrit Rietveld, who was a Dutch architect who made this house for Truus Schroder, a progressive widow with three young children. The house is an embodiment of De Stijl which was a Dutch artistic movement and Rietveld was one of the movement's leading exponents. Because of the movable walls in the house, it can be turned into an open space as well as in three separate rooms and uses all primary colors apart from white, gray and black has been done. The exterior of the houses is also painted under the shades of primary colors giving it a vibrant touch. There is also an iconic window on the top floor and he also tried to use wooden panels as shutters for the windows. The staircase is also concealed behind a sliding door and Rietveld made this house spacious by accurately using all the three dimensions in all the facets of design.
