The Laxmi Vilas Palace is one of Vadodara’s gems. This magnificent palace, built in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture, was once the private residence of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III and is about four times the size of Buckingham Palace. You must also see Makarpura Palace, which was the summer palace for the royal Gaekwads. Now used by the Indian Air Force, people aren’t allowed inside.
When you travel to Vadodara, head over to Sayaji Baug, dedicated to Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, it spans over an area of 45 hectares. It is the most extensive garden in western India. Next, visit the Ajwa Nimeta Garden to revel in the beauty of its manicured lawns and tall palm trees and enjoy its light and sound show featuring musical fountains. Sursagar Lake, surrounded by greenery, is known for boating and watching the sunset.
