Arco dei Gavi, located near Castelvecchio in Verona, is an ancient Roman triumphal arch built in the 1st century AD. It is known for its intricate Roman inscriptions and carvings and can be used as a picturesque stop while visiting nearby landmarks like Castelvecchio. It’s also a favorite spot for photography.
Originally commissioned by the Gavi family, a prominent Roman family, the arch was designed by architect Lucius Vitruvius Cerdo and constructed from white Veronese limestone. It served as a gateway to the city along the Via Postumia, a major Roman road.
