The Arena di Verona, located in Piazza Bra, Verona, is a Roman amphitheater built in the 1st century AD. Renowned for its exceptional preservation and acoustics, it hosts world-famous opera performances and concerts, drawing visitors for its unique blend of history and culture. With a seating capacity of about 15,000, the arena offers an immersive experience of live performances against a backdrop of ancient Roman architecture.
The Arena di Verona stands as one of the best-preserved ancient amphitheaters, measuring approximately 139 meters in length and 110 meters in width. Its elliptical shape ensures optimal acoustics and visibility from every seat. Originally constructed with white and pink limestone from Valpolicella, much of its exterior was damaged in a 12th-century earthquake, but the interior remains remarkably intact. Visitors can explore the tiered seating, the arena floor, and the underground passages that once housed gladiators and animals.
