The Vanh Thanh Mieu Pagoda is a rare Confucian Temple with a rich history.
Located just across a river, this ancient Confucian temple is built in honour of a local hero, Phan Thanh Gian, who led an uprising against the French Colonial army in the early 1930s. When it became apparent that his side was doomed, Phan Thanh Gian chose to commit suicide rather than be captured by the colonialists. The main hall also has a large portrait of Confucius above the altar.
