Mount Pelion is a peninsula between the Aegean Sea and the Pagaestic gulf situated near Volos. The majestic mountains of Volos have lush green forests filled with beech, oak, maple, and chestnut trees. You can go hiking on the trails on this mountain or opt for other means of exploring, such as horse riding, quad biking, etc. You can also spot animals and birds in the mountains.
In the present day, Pelion has twenty-four villages which have elements of conventional Pelion architecture. Some of the most beautiful villages you can explore are Makrinitsa, Portaria, Milies, Vizitsa, Tsagarada and Zagora that have grand stone houses with beautiful wall decorations and slate tiled-roofs. If you like train journeys, you will especially appreciate the vintage experience the little train of Pelion would present to you as it is a steam train running from Kato Lechonia to Milies where you get to enjoy the stunning scenery of Mount Pelion.
