Karadiyur Viewpoint is a vertical cliff which offers an exquisite view of the Mettur Dam and the valley and is also is an amazing picnic spot. Situated in the Karadiyur Village, the viewpoint lies at a distance of 12 km from the town of Yercaud. This region got its name due to the presence of a large number of sloth bears in the past that are not present here now. The view of the sun rising and setting from here is a marvellous experience and is accessible with 1 km trekking from the nearest road point.
Being a perfect destination for climbers and campers, the newly constructed watchtower constructed by the Department of Forestry is the main attraction of the place. Tourists, adventure seekers, nature lovers, and photographers have the time of their lives in here. Though the climb to the top is a little difficult, especially for kids and the elderly, the view that one gets is ravishing and completely worth the effort. You can also drive your vehicle up to the white building which has yellow railings from where you can witness the space carpeted with lush green forested hills.
The wildness of the region is what differentiates it from the rest of the places. Simply put, the Karadiyur Viewpoint makes up for the untouched side of the globe that has flowing valleys and enchanting peaks covering acres of land. The experience that one gets with a narrow, pedestrian walkway that leads you all the way to the observation deck is inexplicable and one of a kind. Also, do not forget to carry a camera to capture all the wonderful memories while you are here.
