Nestled beneath the pedestrian streets of Zagreb lies a hidden gem,the Gric Tunnel. Visitors can explore Gric Tunnel for its historical significance and admire its contemporary artwork. Once the host of a legendary rave party, it is now mostly used by locals to cross Zagreb historic towns.
The tunnel was remodeled and opened to the public as a cultural center, transforming it into an intriguing tourist attraction serving as an underground gallery that hosts art exhibitions, cultural events and performances. There are two primary entrances to the tunnel- one in Mesnicka Street 19 and the other one in Radiceva Street 19 with a total of exits. The tunnel is distinctive because it is located below Gric- the upper town. Above the tunnel, there are many famous attractions like Zagreb Funicular, Lotrscak Tower and Art Park. Built in 1943, during World War II, its main purpose was to serve as a promenade and bomb shelter for the civilians.This 350m long tunnel was used to host the legendary rave party that took place in 1993 and since then has become a popular place to host a variety of exhibitions events.
