Licitar hearts are cakes made of honey dough and are one of the most recognizable foods baked by locals in Zagreb and Croatia during Christmas. They are usually heart-shaped and red in color. It can be bought from any cafe or stall in the city, especially during festivities.
Traditionally it was used by young men to express their lives to their counterparts on Valentine's Day. Their general shape is the heart, but they come in many creative shapes.
