Findeln , Zermatt Overview
Findeln is a quaint little hamlet near Zermatt that attracts several visitors in both summer and winter for its terrific mountain cuisine. The mountain restaurants in Findeln are globally popular and are accessible by footpath or directly from ski pistes. Many of the houses have now become holiday homes.
In the former years, the hamlet of Findelen used to be a “Maiensäss”, where families from Zermatt lived and worked during the summer months. They would grow grain and were involved in grazing cattle. Eggen (2,177 m) and Ze Gassen (2,051 m), are the major hamlets, where a chapel is situated. They are easily accessible by the Zermatt- Sunnegga funicular.
