A paradise for Alpine botanists and florists, Grindjisee Lake is the outcome of a retreated glacier. Its shores offer refuge and livelihood to many rare alpine plants. Covered as one of the lakes in the Five Lake tour, the Grindjisee Lake is mesmerizing yet enigmatic with great panoramic views.
Some of the alpine plants here include Haller’s Pasqueflower, Black Vanilla Orchid, Glacier Wormwood, etc. In recent times, due to the vegetation outgrowth and climate change factors, many people in recent reviews have said it looks more like a concealed pond rather than a lake. Timing of the trail is very important, as the view of the Matterhorn is not always accessible. At a height of 2324 metres, it is nonetheless a beautiful wonder of nature and an indelible part of the famous five-lake walk.
