The Swiss National Museum is one of the oldest and most famous historical museums in Switzerland showcasing Swiss history in six permanent exhibitions and a few temporary ones. It houses collections on Swiss culture and a study centre.
It houses objects and art pieces from contemporary urban history, artisan work from Swiss culture and craftsmanship, a pile of dweller's huts, youth movement flags, swiss archaeology exhibitions, and many more.
This 1898 museum was renamed National Museum Zurich in 2009. Stroll through different versatile exhibitions where you can spot an armoury tower, homewares, and even handcrafted murals from the treasures of Switzerland. In addition, the museum hosts several temporary exhibitions, including historical photos, topical exhibits, and annual exhibits. Aside from its collection of historical artefacts, National Museum Zurich has a library with specialized collections on Swiss culture, a collection of archived images from Switzerland's past, and a publication and study centre, among other things.
