The best time to visit Mississippi is in October through March when the heat of the summer has resided and the hurricane season has passed. The months of October and November are the best time to enjoy the beaches of the Gulf Islands and its famous seafood cuisine. The month of March is also a good time to explore the marshes and its wildlife while the wildflowers are seen in full bloom across the state. The winter months span from December through February experience temperatures not too chilly and can be well utilized to explore the history culture and food. While late in March temperatures get warmer, Mississippi is still cool enough to explore the hiking trails and camping sites to your hearts content. Summer Months of June through August are the least favorable time to visit the state. The city is hit with several tornadoes during these months and the seashores are frequented by hurricanes from the Gulf of Mexico.
