Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi To Amboseli National Park

Today, you will be picked up from the airport or your accommodation in Nairobi by our company representative. After a brief introductory session, you will be handed over to your driver-guide to begin your safari towards Amboseli National Park. You will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. After lunch, you can enjoy the camp's facilities and activities before embarking on your first afternoon game drive, returning to your lodge or hotel at sunset.

Amboseli National Park is renowned for its breathtaking panoramic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world and the highest peak in Africa at 5,895 meters. The park is also an elephant paradise, where large populations of African savanna elephants roam from swamp to swamp, grazing throughout the day. The observation hill provides stunning views of the mountain peak and the park’s plains and swamps. The varied wildlife in the park includes giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, wildebeest, buffalo, and many more.

Leave the camp after breakfast, carrying your packed lunch to enjoy in the wild. Spend the whole day exploring the marshlands and swamps of Amboseli, which are fed by subterranean water channels. Water is abundant throughout the year, as is the pasture. Elephants and various other herbivores can be found here. After a long day of exploration in this 392 km² park, you will return to the lodge late in the afternoon.

Alternatively, you can start the day with an early morning game drive to search for animals when they are most active. Then return to the lodge for a relaxed breakfast and lunch.

During the hottest part of the day, take some time to relax in camp. You can read your favorite book, write about the safari in your journal, or listen to your favorite music while observing the birds. Don’t worry; the animals will be resting too! In the afternoon, head out again at 16:00 for another drive through the park. Return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and overnight.

After enjoying an early breakfast, you will depart from Amboseli National Park and drive towards Nairobi. Along the way, there will be a stop at the renowned Carnivore Restaurant or Tamarind for lunch. Next, you will visit the spectacular Great Rift Valley viewpoint, where you can stretch your legs and capture photos of the contrasting landscapes, including Mount Longonot and Mount Suswa. Following this, you will continue on to the Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort (or a similar venue).

In the afternoon, you have the option to take a boat ride, offering a refreshing experience as you explore the diverse birdlife and wildlife around the lake. Alternatively, you can choose to relax by the poolside in preparation for a busy day filled with outdoor activities the following day.

Please note that the activities mentioned above are not included in the price and are optional. Payment for these activities should be made directly to the suppliers.

Get ready for a day filled with outdoor activities! After breakfast, pack your belongings and head to a nearby animal sanctuary for a walking safari. Alternatively, you can visit Crescent Island, where the animals are less wary of humans, allowing you to take pictures up close.

After exploring the sanctuary, drive to Hell's Gate National Park (Optional). You can choose to cycle, walk, or drive through the park, as it is one of the few national parks that permit these activities. Following this adventure, enjoy lunch before setting off for Lake Nakuru. You will arrive in the late afternoon and have a game drive on your way to your lodge, which is located within the park.

After having breakfast, you will begin your first early morning game drive. Despite the early start, morning game drives are incredibly rewarding, as you can spot animals when they are most active. Lake Nakuru is home to flamingos, black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, buffalo, and the endangered Rothschild's giraffe. The southern end of the lake is the best place to observe wildlife.

Following the game drive, you will exit the park and return to the lodge for lunch (you can choose to carry picnic lunch boxes if you prefer). After lunch, you will drive through the Rift Valley floor to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by Maasai warriors who will escort you on a cultural walking safari, including a visit to a Maasai village to learn more about the community that has coexisted with the Mara wildlife for centuries. You will return later in the day.

This is a full day spent game viewing across the rich tree-studded grassland and rolling hills of the famous "Eighth Wonder of the Animal World". The Mara is renowned for its great herds of plains game animals like leopards, Cheetahs & Lions. It also has numerous Elephants and virtually every other type of wildlife to be found in Kenya. You will have a full-day game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve.

Your lunch today is picnic lunch boxes in the savannah under a flat-top acacia tree while watching the animals grazing. Continue with the game viewing route to your camp, arriving late in the afternoon after thoroughly exploring this massive grassland savannah measuring 1,500sq km.

You have an option of booking a balloon ride today, which takes off early in the morning. After landing, the crew helps you out of the basket and escorts you to a lovely setting for a bush breakfast. It is a lifetime experience.

After a leisurely breakfast, you will check out of your lodge, pack your belongings, and drive back to Nairobi. Along the way, you may choose to visit the Giraffe Centre in Nairobi, where you can get up close to this gentle and endangered Rothschild's giraffe. Here, you will have the opportunity to feed them and learn more about these magnificent creatures.

After your visit, you will proceed to your respective hotel or the airport, marking the end of your safari adventure.

Depending on your homeward flight departure time, you will coordinate your departure from Masai Mara with your driver-guide.

CAMPTREK, JOHN AND ALL THE GUIDES ENSURED THAT OUR TRIP TO KENYA AND TANZANIA WAS UNFORGETTABLE! John from Camptrek was wonderful to work with during the planning of our trip. He was very helpful in (Read More)answering any questions we had in preparation for our trip. Of all the tour operations, Camptrek put together an amazing 16 day Safari to Kenya and Tanzania. From the very first day, John and the other tour guides were friendly, warm and accommodating. They each went out of their way to make sure that everyone in our group’s personal needs were met during the entire trip. We were on the trip with our 86 year old mother and they were very solicitous, wanting to be sure that she was comfortable and that she had everything she needed. The accommodations that Camptrek arranged were excellent and the grounds of some of the camps were stunning. Our agenda was jam packed with game drives, visits to animal orphanages, sanctuaries and visiting tribal people. During our game drives we were lucky enough to be able to see the Big 5, the Ugly 5 and numerous other creatures. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable, sharing information on each of the animals, including their habits, lifespan and anecdotal stories. Overall, it was an unbelievable experience thanks to John and Camptrek. This was a once in a lifetime trip but should we decide to take some of our other family members on a trip to Africa, we would definitely do the trip through Camptrek. It is without any reservation that we recommend Camptrek for your safari.

Just excellent from the first point of contact to the final moment of our safari. Margaret and John couldn’t do enough to help and advise us. Our driver/guide also made sure every moment went to plan (Read More)and that we had the best possible sightings of all the game - he had a very deep knowledge of his subject and Kenya in general. A wonderful experience.

18 day Kenya and Tanzania Safari - We chose this company due to their excellent itinerary, high quality of lodging, excellent reviews, and great value compared to other quotes we had gotten. We had 4 (Read More)different guides on different parts of our tour (due to additions we made to their normal safari schedule) and had great experiences with each one (David, John, Phillip, and Francis). Our main guide was Phillip. He was awesome! Highly knowledgeable and willing to please his guests. One thing we liked about Phil was that you could tell he was as excited to see a great wildlife encounter as we were. That was very nice. He also took the time to find out what we were interested in and tailored the trip accordingly. Each lodge had its own special charm. The food was fantastic and the unlimited bottled water definitely came in handy. You could easily tell the lodges were chosen with care. Pappa John set up a fantastic trip. Each day was an adventure and almost seemed better than the last amazing day. The communication prior to the safari was top notch. Lucy was very responsive and helpful. Within 3 days of starting our safari we had already seen the big 5. Our animal encounters were out of this world. We especially enjoyed Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s elephant orphanage. What an fantastic organization. We highly recommend using this company. They are an amazing group of people that do everything to make your safari an adventure of a lifetime and it absolutely was! This safari was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and will give us memories that will last a lifetime!

We had a great time in Kenya. This six-day, five-night trip to Kenya was truly an eye-opener! Our guide, Eric, was incredibly professional and enthusiastic. He drove us to the famous Masa Mara and Amb (Read More)oseli National Parks. We were very lucky to see a wide variety of amazing wildlife, including lions, elephants, and giraffes. It felt like we were in a real-life nature documentary! A special shout-out to Eric for his wealth of experience and thoughtful planning. He always found the best wildlife viewing routes, avoiding crowds while bringing us close to the animals. If you’re looking to experience the true beauty of Africa’s wildlife, Kenya is definitely a destination you shouldn’t miss!

We took 7 Days Package of Safari tour with Camptrek. Our tour consultant Margaret was very helpful and very swift in replying our queries. She indeed gave us the best deal compared to few other quotes (Read More) I received. Entire tour went smoothly as expected and the game drives were amazing. Spotted all the Big 5 and many others. Had a great time clicking so many pictures close to Animals. Truly once in life time experience. Definitely recommend them for Safari tour.

Just finished a fantastic 10 day safari trip across Kenya with Camptrek Safaris. From when we first enquired about advice and a quote for a trip across Kenya, Camptrek were incredibly professional and (Read More) quickly produced and amended tailored quotes and itineraries that worked for our budget, interests, and time. Once we agreed on a package that worked for us, Camptrek arranged everything and made all planning a breeze. When we arrived in Nairobi we were picked up from our hotel and introduced to our driver and guide for the next 10 days, Eric. Eric couldn't have worked harder to find opportunities for my entire party to see all the animals and scenery we wanted to see. He was knowledgeable, informative, personable, professional, and helpfully an excellent driver! When we had some medical issues (not related to the trip), Eric navigated us to the help we needed and amended our itinerary so we wouldn't miss out on anything. One member of our party has some accessibility issues and Eric went out of his way to ensure he was catered for. The hotels and camps arranged by Camptrek were more unique and frankly better than anything I've stayed in before (perhaps that says more about me though!). The itinerary that was arranged was perfect for us and we found Camptrek to be very competitively priced and excellent value - I don't really understand how they were able to put us up in such great accomodation. Thanks again Eric and Camptrek - we would love to do this again sometime!

We had such a wonderful trip with Camptrek, especially our guide Vincent and Antony. Our boy loved both of them very much. We spent 10 days in safari at Amboseli, Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and (Read More) Tarangire, following up with 3 days in Zanzibar island. The whole trip was smooth and our guides were very responsible and taking care of all our needs. Vincent is the best guide you could ever find. He’s patient, genuine and thoughtful. Our family was inspired by his passion for wildlife. He is already knowledgeable about the nature and animals. However, he was as curious as we were during the trip. He is more than a guide but like a friend of ours. On the second day of our trip, Vincent invited our 11-year-old boy sitting next to him so they can exchange their knowledge of animal facts. We sincerely appreciate his accompany along the trip. We would definitely love to have Vincent as our guide again next time we visit Tanzania! What an incredible experience. Highly recommended!!
