Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative will be waiting at the airport holding a placard with your name. You will then be transferred to your designated hotel. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner featuring Nepalese cuisine, offering a glimpse into the country’s rich food culture.

After breakfast, a pre-trip meeting will be held where you will be introduced to your guide. You can clarify any queries regarding the journey.

The sightseeing tour includes visits to some of Kathmandu’s most iconic landmarks. The first stop is Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world, where Buddhist monks can be seen praying in surrounding monasteries. The next destination is Pashupatinath Temple, the most sacred Hindu temple in Nepal, located on the banks of the Bagmati River. Here, you will witness Hindu holy men (sadhus) meditating, pilgrims bathing, and occasionally, funeral rites being performed on the ghats. The tour continues to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a historical site featuring pagoda and shikhara-style temples, the Palace of Fifty-Five Windows, the Lion Gate, the Golden Gate, art galleries, and the statue of King Bhupatindra Malla.

An early morning drive to Sotikhola marks the beginning of the adventure. The journey offers scenic views of the Nepali countryside, passing through winding roads. The paved road extends up to Arughat via Dhading Besi, after which the route becomes rough. The overnight stay is in Sotikhola.

The trek begins with a walk through lush Sal forests, leading to a ridge above the fast-flowing Budhi Gandaki River. The trail continues through rocky paths, passing waterfalls before reaching the Gurung village of Labubesi. As the trek progresses, the valley opens up, allowing a scenic walk along the sandy riverbed before crossing a suspension bridge to reach Machha Khola, where the overnight stay is arranged.

The trail crosses the Tharo Khola and leads to a small hot spring in Tatopani. After a climb over a ridge, a suspension bridge over the Budhi Gandaki is crossed. Stone staircases lead to Dobhan, followed by another suspension bridge over Yaru Khola to Tharo Bharyang. From here, the trail climbs another ridge and continues along the river to reach Jagat for the night.

The trek begins with a climb up a ridge to Salleri, followed by Siridibas. The trail crosses the Ghatte Khola and continues upstream to reach Philim, a Gurung village. The route then passes through millet fields before entering a steep gorge. After multiple crossings of the Budhi Gandaki River, the trail leads through bamboo forests and finally reaches the village of Deng for an overnight stay.

The trek crosses the Budhi Gandaki River multiple times and heads west into the valley. The path leads through dense forests before reaching the Prok village, which offers a beautiful view of Siringi Himal. Several Buddhist gompas are found along the route. The final stretch involves a steep climb through a forested area before reaching Namrung for the night.

The trail gradually ascends through forests before reaching Lihi, a small village. Passing through Sho, Lho, and Shyala villages, the trek provides spectacular views of Ganesh Himal and Mount Manaslu. A visit to Ribung Gompa is included before reaching Samagaon, where the night is spent in a traditional village setting.

A day is spent in Samagaon for acclimatization. This village is inhabited primarily by Sherpa people, and the culture is deeply influenced by Buddhism. The day includes a visit to the ancient Pungyen Gompa, which sits on a small hill and offers breathtaking views of surrounding glaciers. After spending some time at the monastery, the return to Samagaon is scheduled for the night.

The trek descends toward the Budhi Gandaki River and follows a trail leading to a bridge. The left-side trail leads to Manaslu Base Camp, but the main route continues along the river, crossing the Budhi Gandaki again via a wooden bridge. The trail gradually ascends through the landscape before reaching Samdo, where the night is spent.

Another rest day is planned for acclimatization in Samdo. A short hike to a trade pass near the Tibetan border provides stunning views of Mount Manaslu and the surrounding Himalayan peaks, including Simrang, Hiunchuli, Ngadi, and Larkya Peak.

The trek involves crossing rivers and making gradual ascents before reaching the Larkya Glacier. The trail leads to a stone-built guesthouse at an altitude of 4,450 meters, known as Dharmasala. This basic shelter is used for acclimatization before the next challenging section of the trek.

The trail continues over the moraines of the Larkya Glacier, with a series of ascents and descents. Upon reaching the Larkya La Pass, panoramic views of Annapurna II and other Himalayan peaks unfold. As the descent begins, Mount Manaslu dominates the horizon. The night is spent in Bhimthang, offering a rewarding conclusion to a challenging day.

The morning is spent admiring views of Mount Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, and Cheo Himal before descending towards the valley. The route passes through rhododendron forests and crosses a bridge over Dudh Khola. Cultivated fields begin to appear as the trail reaches Karche Valley. After descending past the village of Gho, the trek concludes for the day in Tilije.

The trail follows a stone-paved path through a picturesque village before crossing a bridge over Dudh Khola. After passing through Thonje village, the route reaches Dharapani, where the Annapurna Circuit trail intersects. The path continues to Karte village, crosses another bridge over the Marshyangdi River, and leads to Tal, situated below a waterfall.

The trail descends through rhododendron forests and small villages before reaching Chyamje. The route continues downward, passing through a blend of forested hills and terraced farmland, eventually arriving at Syange, where the final night of the trek is spent.

An early morning drive takes travelers back to Kathmandu, following scenic winding roads alongside the Marshyangdi and Trishuli Rivers. In the evening, a farewell dinner is arranged as a concluding gesture to celebrate the successful trek.

Our trip concludes today and our representatives will drive you to the airport today for your final departure.

Thank you again for doing such a good job organising the whole trip – I’m not sure you could have done a better job, or found such good people along the way to help me. I have to mention my guide Gau (Read More)rav by name, who was with me from beginning to end, and became as much a friend as a guide. He was smart, funny, thoughtful, knowledgeable, spoke perfect English and quick to solve any possible little snags along the way. A real superstar. I hope to be back next year to walk to Everest Base Camp.
