Day 1 Guwahati to Shillong (120 kms/ 3 hrs)
Arrival at Guwahati and Transfer to Shillong: Arrive at Guwahati airport, where you will meet your driver and start your journey to Shillong. En route, stop at Umium Lake for a photo opportunity, capturing the serene beauty of this picturesque spot.

Explore Shillong: Reach Shillong in the afternoon and begin your local sightseeing tour. Visit Ward's Lake, a beautiful man-made lake surrounded by lush gardens, perfect for a leisurely walk. Explore the nearby Catholic Church, one of the prominent landmarks of Shillong.

Evening Market Walk: In the evening, take a walking tour of the local market in Shillong. This is a great opportunity to experience the vibrant culture of the region and shop for local handicrafts.

Overnight Stay: Return to your hotel in Shillong for an overnight stay.

Transfer to Cherrapunjee: After breakfast, begin your drive to Cherrapunjee, famously known as the wettest place on Earth. The journey of 60 km will take about 1½ hours.

Visit Mawdok Viewpoints: On the way, stop at Mawdok viewpoints to admire the stunning views of the valley. This is a great spot for photography and to enjoy the natural beauty of the region.

Explore Wah Kaba Waterfall: Continue your journey with a visit to Wah Kaba Waterfall, a scenic spot where you can witness the powerful cascades and the lush surroundings.

Sightseeing in Cherrapunjee: Upon arrival in Cherrapunjee, visit the Garden of Caves, a beautiful area filled with natural caves and waterfalls. Then, head to Nohsngithiang Falls, also known as the Seven Sisters Waterfalls, where you can marvel at the seven-segmented waterfall plunging from a great height.

Overnight Stay: Check into your hotel in Cherrapunjee for an overnight stay.

Start the Trek: After breakfast, embark on a day trip to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge. Start your trek from Tyrna Village, the gateway to this natural wonder.

Trek Through Lush Landscapes: Trek through lush green fields and cliffs, with the sun filtering through the thick canopy of trees. Pass through small villages and verdant vegetation as you make your way to Nongriat Village.

Visit the Double Decker Living Root Bridge: On reaching Nongriat, witness the iconic Double Decker Living Root Bridge, a natural marvel made from the roots of rubber trees. The bridge is over a hundred feet long and is a testament to the ingenuity of the local tribes.

Explore Dawki Village: Continue your journey towards Dawki, a village close to the India-Bangladesh border. Dawki is renowned for the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. Enjoy the surreal experience of seeing the transparent river bed and take a boat ride to fully appreciate the beauty of the river.

Overnight Stay: After a day of exploration, check into your accommodation in Shnongpdeng for an overnight stay.
Visit Mawphlang Village: After breakfast, head to Mawphlang Village, known for its Sacred Groves and the Khasi Sacred Forest, which holds great significance for nature lovers. Visit the Khasi Heritage Village to learn about the traditional lifestyle of the Khasi Tribe.

En Route to Shillong: While traveling back to Shillong, stop at the famous Elephant Falls and spend some time amidst the pristine natural surroundings.

We booked the tour package from anirudha das (Riverjourneysindia) for 7 days of meghalaya and guwahati. Mr. Anuriddha das well organised hotel and car booking. 7 days trip was good because of well org (Read More)anised programme by riverjourneyindia crew members. Once again I shall be go with riverjourney for next year. I hope that they will be organised well in next time also

Trip to Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal pradesh

We, the four of us had a very enjoyable n once in a lifetime experience in the above trip, which, was very well planned for us by Mr Anirudh Das, which was exhaustive. The car was good and the driver (Read More) Boro dada was excellent, he, knew the ways, like, the back of his hand! He was courteous n respectful. The driver to Bumla pass, Mr Bema was equally good too. Breakfast n dinner was included in our plan, which, almost in every hotel, we were put up served us to our liking. Thanks to them. Now, coming to the hotels, we were put up in, I would say all were really very good, except for landmark hotel in shillong, which, was pathetic, with broken flooring n very bad housekeeping. The Danang, resort, on a riverbank was altogether a different experience except that there's a long walk, so, it becomes difficult with bags(our bags were carried by the lady employee, we felt bad for her. So, if, the tourist are informed about this n if they have to spend just a night, they can just pack minimum things. Overall, we, enjoyed our trip immensely. Our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Anirudh Das n his associates. Looking forward to next tour...with you. God bless. Drs kumbhats God

We are elderly couples, on recommendation of a relative we booked our trip through River Journeys. I think that was the wise decision. We visited Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh in span of 14 d (Read More)ays. My wife doesn't eat onion and garlic which was informed to them and they in turn informed all places in advance. The car and the driver provided was excellent he didn't had to ask anybody for directions drive directly to hotels. All hotels were near, tidy having good ambiance even in Twang, they provided us with heavy jackets. The hotel in Dirang was situated on river banks and you have to walk on hanging bridge which is a novel experience. Overall the trip has been a memorable for once in life time experience. Thanks Mr Aniruddha for taking all care of us.

We visited N-E in 2022. Mr Aniruddha Das chalked out our program. Our package was with lodging,breakfast and transport. He provided well trained driver with local knowledge. Hotels provided by him we (Read More)re excellent particularly in Dirang. Our permits were timely arranged. We had no problem in visiting all restricted area's. Mr Das made our trip memorable. I will recommend his name as a good tour organizer. We vish him best of luck in coming years. Mujumdar.

Mr Aniruddh Das of River Journeys organised tour to Kaziranga and Meghalaya for our group of eight. Aniruddh is a very experienced tour organiser and within a span of a few discussions he judged the k (Read More)ind of experience we would prefer. He organised our itinerary accordingly. It was very difficult to get rooms during the peak tourist season but he managed to get us hotel accommodation at good hotels within the quoted budget. He even got us a room upgrade at La Nicholas hotel without charging extra amount. We made a last minute change in Zone at Kaziranga National park. This would cost an extra amount but Aniruddh mase arrangements for this without any hesitation and did not charge any extra amount. He permitted us to add extra pick up and drop during living roots bridge trek, again without any additional cost. Breakfast and dinner was included in our package and food quality was very good at all the hotels. He gave us a spacious vehicle and a good driver. Our itinerary was organised perfectly and we managed to visit all the attractions at ease. We had a great time on this tour and would like to thank River Journeys and Aniruddh for the same. On 25/08/2024 myself with family and friends of my daughter doing MBBS stayed nicely in two nos. rooms. Facilities of room inside are found clean & larger area. I along with my family went on a tour for seven days at different places in Meghalaya and hired a car from the agency. The driver Arup who was with us in the entire tour is very helpful, efficient and (Read More) well behavioured person. We enjoyed the beautiful trip without any hassle. Had booked relaxing 12 days tour. Covering the all possible beauty of Meghalaya Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The itinerary was perfectly craved according to our changes and had everything that one sho (Read More)uld definitely see. Our trip started on 20 th jan but we reached on 19 evening.We have been provided a hotel in Paltan bazar.It is a international hotel but not upto the mark .Our journey started on 20 morning towards Sh (Read More)illong.Our driver is very good as a guide also .on the way we were enjoying pineapple .The hotel we stayed in Shillong was a better one by all means .Nice stay .we enjoyed Shillong and stayed overnight in chirapunjee.we have seen many places in and around and proceeded to Kazaranga National park.enjoyed elephant and jeep safari . enjoyed Assamese Folk dance programme .stay in Kazaranga hotel was comfortable..when we proceeded towards Tawang we stayed in DIRANG..wonderful hotel stay at DIRANG.nextday morning we proceeded towards Tawang .on the way the chain to be fixed to he wheels .The temperature was -3degrees.tawang was freezing cold at -7 degrees we stayed in a homestay .frequent powercut and no network of jio . only Airtel and BSNL works there . Best time to visit Tawang is April/May .many layers of winter clothing required if you visit in winter.we enjoyed snowfall all the way Next day we travelled towards Guwahati .In Guwahati we enjoyed ropeway umananda temple and fancy bazar shopping. We had done Pooja in Kamakaya temple .expect waiting time minimum 4 to 5 hours at temple. From there we went to airport to board our Mumbai Flight appreciate our tour operator for making our trip a memorable one Enough care is taken as we are senior citizens .For emergency we carried an oxygen can .Bumil pass we could not go due hard weather conditions .

Hello, We booked River Journeys for around 6 days trip with 1 Day in Guwahati and rest others in and around Meghalaya. Firstly, the driver is experienced and drives with care. The only concern was the (Read More) language, but with little English we can adjust with the locals. Additionally, the accommodation choices are based on the budget and ours were decent and great. Moreover, the agents were supportive and understood our concern whenever we had any problem with anything. We recommend River side for your next journey.
