Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Darjeeling

Upon arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) or Bagdogra International Airport (IXB), you will be warmly received and driven to the scenic hill town of Darjeeling, located at an altitude of 6,950 ft (approx. 75 km / 3 hours). Once you reach, check-in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure, soaking in the refreshing mountain air. Overnight stay in Darjeeling.

Day 2 Darjeeling Sightseeing with Tiger Hill Sunrise

Wake up early around 4:00 AM for a memorable visit to Tiger Hill to witness a stunning sunrise over Mt. Kanchenjunga (subject to permit/token availability). Return to the hotel for breakfast. Around 8:30 AM, embark on a full-day local sightseeing tour covering Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park (closed on Thursdays), Tenzing Rock, Darjeeling Ropeway, Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre (closed on Sundays), an outer view of a Tea Garden, Japanese Temple, Ghoom Monastery, and Batasia Loop. Spend your evening exploring the local markets or relaxing. Overnight stay in Darjeeling.

Day 3 Transfer to Kalimpong and Sightseeing

After breakfast, drive to Kalimpong, a quaint hill station located at 4,091 ft (approx. 77 km / 6.5 hours). Upon arrival, check-in to your hotel. In the afternoon, head out to explore Kalimpong’s highlights, including Mangal Dham, Deolo Hill, Golf Course, Durpin Dara Hills, and Pine View Nursery (closed on Sundays). Return to the hotel in the evening. Overnight stay in Kalimpong.

Day 4 Excursion to Lava

Post breakfast, embark on a full-day excursion to Lava, located at an altitude of 7,200 ft (approx. 32 km / 1.5 hours one way). The journey offers a changing landscape—from tropical deciduous forests to lush alpine terrain. Visit attractions like the Lava Monastery, Forest Nursery, Nature Interpretation Centre, and a scenic viewpoint offering magnificent views of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Return to Kalimpong in the evening. Overnight stay in Kalimpong.

Day 5 Transfer to Gangtok with Half-Day Sightseeing

After breakfast, proceed to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, situated at 5,500 ft (approx. 108 km / 7 hours). On arrival, check-in to your hotel. Later, enjoy a half-day city tour visiting the Flower Exhibition Centre, Cottage Industry and Handicraft Centre (closed on Sundays and on 1st & 3rd Saturdays), the Institute of Tibetology (closed on Sundays), Dro-dul Chorten Stupa, Gonjang Monastery, and Banjhakri Falls. Return to the hotel and relax. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 6 Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir Excursion

Today after breakfast, go on a mesmerizing excursion to Tsomgo Lake (12,400 ft, approx. 53 km / 3 hours one way), a glacial lake famous for its natural beauty. Later, drive further to visit Baba Mandir (13,200 ft / 16 km / 1 hour from the lake). Return to Gangtok by evening and unwind at the hotel. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Important Notes for Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir Visit:

Carry two passport-sized photos and a photocopy of valid Photo ID (Passport, Driving License, or Voter ID). PAN Card & Aadhaar are not accepted.
For children below 18, carry a birth certificate or school/college ID. Originals must be carried while travelling.
In case of landslides or roadblocks, alternate sightseeing will be arranged.

Day 7 Departure

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and proceed for your return transfer to NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport (approx. 128 km / 5 hours) for your onward journey. Tour ends with beautiful memories of the Himalayas.

As this was my first trip, by booking a package through any travel agency, initially I was little apprehensive what kind of hotels, food and services I would get. Would it be of full value for money e (Read More)tc. etc.? We started our trip from Srinagar Airport, where Mr. Rashid, the driver, was already waiting for us with vehicle. He was of great help throughout the tour. Showed us various local sights with great interest. In the evening we reached Hotel Mountview, Pahalgam. Location of Hotel and surrounding area was just awesome and to our surprise the room and outside view from the room was beautiful. It was very neat and clean room. Hotel Staff was nice, though the food was not as good as per our liking. Next day after local sightseeing in Pahalgam, we left for Srinagar and reached Hotel Four Seasons by the evening. Three night stay at this hotel was the best thing of our tour package. Everything at this hotel was perfect, be it food, hotel staff, room etc. As and when we visit Srinagar, we would definitely like to have our stay at this Hotel in future also. We went for local sightseeing in Srinagar, Gulmerg and Sonmerg. The itinerary of the package was very comfortable and was beyond our expectations. We had full time in our hand to enjoy the sightseeing. Last night of our tour was at Houseboat. We were not so happy at houseboat because we were missing the hospitality given to us by Hotel Four Seasons. Home made Food was really good at this Houseboat. I am thankful to Ms. Pallavi, owner of OM APEX TOURS AND TRAVELS who gave us such a nice package. Her suggestions were of great benefit and help to us. We would definitely like to have another tour package with OM APEX TOURS AND TRAVELS.
