Itinerary

Join the original Athens walking tour and benefit from over 20 years of experience. Stroll to the foothills of the Unesco World Heritage Site of the Acropolis of Athens, one of the world’s most revealing archaeological sites. Avoid the crowds and head for the south slope of the Acropolis to avoid the main crowds. Visit the Theatre of Dionysus, a 5th-century amphitheater cited as the birthplace of the performing arts. Hear about its history and imagine it filled with the theatergoers of Ancient Greece. Stop at the Dionysus Sanctuary, dedicated to the Greek god of wine and fertility. Once inside the Acropolis, get up-close to important sights, such as the Propylaea gateway, Erechtheion, Temple of Athena Nike, and Parthenon. Pause for photos of these fascinating ruins, and learn their history from your guide. Once at the summit of the sacred hill, take in the sweeping panoramas of Athens. Learn about the excavations, and get an insight into the citadel’s ruins. Hear about surrounding monuments, such as Mars Hill, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and the ancient Agora, once the heart of Athens. Continue on to the Acropolis Museum, now ranked as one of the top 5 museums in the world. See the highlights of the impressive collection of statues and relics. Go to the Gallery of the Slopes of the Acropolis, where the glass floors reveal excavation sites. End your tour inside the museum, leaving you free to explore its exhibits further should you wish. Skip-the-Ticket Line Access Please be aware that even with our skip-the-ticket-line service, there might be some waiting time required for security checks. This is because visitor numbers can fluctuate unpredictably at the sites throughout the day. The typical waiting time falls within 0 to 10 or 30 minutes, though on rare occasions, it might be longer.

We weren't lucky with our gyude yesterday which is the mail reason of my poor points. There was no enthusiasm, no nice stories so... the 110E per person totally did not worth it. With such groups it i (Read More)s just a matter of luck who will be your guide, that's it.

Very well done. Started off rough for us because of confusion with the tickets (and getting a group of 7 there on time), but! We figured it out and the tour group were certainly accommodating. Much ap (Read More)preciated. The tour guide himself was very knowledgeable. There's limited spots for those acropolis guides, so you get the creme de la creme. Lively, while very informative. Couple notes. If you buy the ticket separate, make sure the time slot matches your tour start. The time slot you pick has to exactly match when you enter the acropolis (with no bearing on the other attractions with the combined ticket) If you're debating on doing acropolis or acropolis plus museum, personally I'd skip the museum. It was very good! But the 3.5 hr tour is a bit long. Acropolis was more about general cultural and political impact (very interesting) and the museum was more historical event telling w/ lots of add ons. I loved it, but it may only be interesting for die hard nerds

The process was easy, but our guide seemed to not enjoy his job very much. He complained a lot about the government, military, and had a lack luster attitude regarding the history.

The museum part was a bit rushed. I would rather go to the museum separately and get myself an audio guide. The guide herself was great (only critic is that she speaks too fast with no pauses at times (Read More), which makes her hard to understand sometimes) but you can't choose your guide. You are assigned to a group of ~25 people. The slowest person in your group determines the pace. Check in might have been more friendly and pleasant.

The group size was perfect. Less than 20 in the group Our tour guide (Angelica) was very very knowledgeable about Greek History. She spoke very clearly and answered any questions people had. She also (Read More)was very conscience of finding shady spots on the hot morning I was very impressed with the tour. Would definitely recommend this to all
