Itinerary

Drive along the coastal road, passing the spectacular beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, and Varkiza to Cape Sounion, the southernmost point of Attica, where the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon stand. Cape Sounion is a promontory located 69 kilometers south southeast of Athens. According to Greek mythology, Cape Sounion is the spot where Aegeus, King of Athens, leapt from the cliff to his death, thus giving his name to the Aegean Sea. During the 4-hour tour you’ll have splendid views of the Saronic Gulf and the small islands offshore. After visiting the Temple of Poseidon, take some time to walk along the rocky promontory of Sounion, before heading back to Athens.

Very beautiful landscapes during the transport by bus. Good explanations about the Temple of Poseidon. More comments in English than in French when announced only in French.

The time that could be spent at the location was much too short and that's a shame because it's beautiful!

The place is amazing -- a must in Athens. The tour toward the cape was very good: a comfortable bus and nice observations from the guide. However, the time in the temple was a bit rushed and I missed (Read More)some support equipment such as whispers. It was not bad, but it wasn't my best experience in Greece.

Site to discover. But it would be necessary to favor a single language for the accompanying guide. This would avoid a cacophony between switching from French to English and vice versa, and this in par (Read More)ticular during the entire outward journey (1h30) with often repetitive speech and redundant information.
