Itinerary

Your path will initially take you in front of the new Acropolis Museum and continue towards the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, a stone theater structure located on the southwest slope of the Acropolis. Afterwards, enjoy one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the world, with the entire city of Athens at your feet and the Temple of Athena above you. Continue your walk entering the most folkloristic neighborhood in Athens, the Anafiotika, which is situated just downhill from the Acropolis of Athens, a symbol of architectural perfection and knowledge throughout the last 25 centuries. The Ancient Roman Agora will be your next stop, allowing you to admire the Tower of Winds and continue heading towards the famous Monastiraki District with its flea market . A brief 30 minute break will follow, offering you the pleasure of tasting a traditional Greek coffee, some tea or another beverage of your liking and then admire the Metropolitan Cathedral of the city. Walking by the famous Ermou Street, the most important commercial road in Athens, which takes its name by the Greek God Hermes (in Greek Ermis), protector of commerce. Arrive at the central and most famous square of Athens, Syntagma Square, where, in front of the Hellenic Parliament, you will witness one of the oldest traditions in Greece, the Changing of the Presidential Guard. Passing through the underground archeological exhibition at the Syntagma metro station will take you to the National Garden, where you will be able to relax with your family and enjoy feeding the animals on display. After passing in front of the Presidential Palace, continue to the Panathenaic Stadium (also known as the Kallimarmaron), the biggest stadium in the world constructed exclusively by marble. Then visit the beautiful Zappeion Megaron and afterwards admire the biggest temple in ancient Greece, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Arch of Hadrian. Finally, head towards the Acropolis metro station, where your tour will be concluded.

MAURIZIO - Italy

5 /5

(Written on 2019-04-23)

We are a family of 5 adults. We decided to spend a cultural week in Greece and Athens from 08 to 15 April. When we organize a trip, for some years now we have used the experience of GetYourGuide to ge (Read More)t to know the towns and cities we visit better. We chose this private walking tour in the heart of Athens with Be a Greek, with an Italian-speaking guide: it was a really pleasant experience that fully met our expectations. The guide Dimitrios spoke perfect Italian (he studied Medicine in Italy, in Bologna) and introduced us to the archaeological sites, monuments and most recent places in the history of Athens as scheduled. Dimitrios is very knowledgeable, he involved us and was able to convey his affection and respect for these places: the 4 hours went by without us realizing it. It was like visiting Athens with a friend. This is a must do experience for anyone visiting Athens.
