Itinerary

Head north from Bangkok on this private full-day trip to Ayutthaya, the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit Wat Phrasrisanphet and the former palace, the prototype for the Grand Palace in Bangkok. Take a walk to Wihan Mongkon Borpit to see the seated Buddha statue. Continue on to Wat Mahathat and Wat Ratchaburana and hear the story of the battle fought from the backs of elephants. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Or you could visit one of the temples which is highlighted called Wat Pra ngam. Spend some time at Wat Chaiwattanaram, the stunning temple on the river, before returning to Bangkok.

Wes, our Tour Guide, was exceptional. He was knowledgeable, fun and flexible! We probably wouldn’t have gone there by ourselves, but it was definitely worth it! True authentic and tasty Thai cuisine that tickled our taste buds in the right place. We were very lucky to get a guide like Ramzy who was experienced and resourceful to adjust the intensity of the itinerary to help us have an enjoyable time. As there was a lot of walking involved, and (Read More) we were not very energetic ppl, Ramzy, suggested we rent a golf buggy at one of the sites. This made a huge positive difference to our experience and we’re able to see more things in less time. During friendly conversation, Ramzy found out that we’re Muslim, and changed the planned lunch location to facilitate this. The food at that restaurant was some of the best Thai food we had ever had. The kindness and availability of the driver and the guide are not lacking but what we are looking for in a private tour is first of all the ability of the guide to explain all the historical-cultural (Read More)aspects of the sites, or the professionalism that was lacking in this tour. To make up for this, I often had to read the few English instructions that were in the historical park, many times the guide was unable to answer my profane questions. Perhaps this lack is also due to the language barrier, but to be a guide it is not enough to know how to take tourists to the more or less popular sites, to which the map and the internet are enough.
