Itinerary

Venture forth from the airport to explore the wonders of Thailand in mere hours, visiting the Ancient City and the serene Wat Asokaram in the enchanting Samutprakan Province, home to the Suwannaphum Airport. Discover the Ancient City, a large open-air museum and tourist attraction that showcases architectural works and sculptures, providing a comprehensive view of Thai arts, culture, and lifestyles from various regions, including the North, Central, South, and Northeast, across different historical eras. Take in the beautiful sights of the local community in suburban Bangkok and explore the renowned Wat Asokaram temple nestled within the mangrove forest. Wat Ashokaram is a temple located in Mueang Samut Prakan District, Samut Prakan Province built by Phra Sutthithammarangsri (Lee Thammatharo) around 1954. Currently, the temple attracts many visitors due to the significant Phra Thutang Chedi, a collection of 13 pagodas designed by the former abbot as a sacred space to enshrine the relics of the Lord Buddha. Wat Ashokaram serves not only as a meditation site but also features a museum showcasing statues of renowned Thai monks known for their discipline. Additionally, the Sutthithammarangsri Wihan building houses the large principal Buddha image on its third floor, adorned with paintings depicting the story of Luang Por Lee, the first abbot and his discipline during monkhood. There's also a large Buddha head, sculpted in 1960, is housed inside a hall that attracts many visitors who come to pay their respects. The temple area is shaded and serene, allowing visitors to stroll to the edge of the Gulf of Thailand.
