Itinerary

Embark on a full-day guided tour of the ancient ruins of Mycenae from Athens, with a minimized environmental footprint. Walk in what was once a thriving center of ancient Greece and visit sites, including Epidaurus and the seaport of Nauplion. During the late Bronze Age, the city of Mycenae played an important role in ancient Greece. This full-day trip from Athens provides the opportunity for you to explore this treasure of the ancient world. Traveling by air-conditioned bus, you’ll make a brief stop at the Corinth Canal, a 3.9-mile engineering wonder connecting the Gulf of Corinth with the Aegean Sea. Mycenae is the historical setting for much of ancient Greek literature, including the works of the poet Homer. Tour the archeological site, home to the Lionesses Gate and the tomb of King Agamemnon. You’ll continue on the drive, making a stop in Nauplia, the first capital of modern Greece and home to the fortress of Palamidi. After a relaxing lunch, the final stop of the tour is the city of Epidaurus, home to the World Heritage-listed ancient theater and believed by ancient Greeks to be the birthplace of Apollo’s son Asklepios. The theater at Epidaurus is perhaps the best-preserved theater of ancient Greece and is still used today because of its amazing acoustics.

We were taken to the museum first at Mycenae and the guide took so long that we only had 10 minutes for the site. 5 of those minutes were taken up by the guide outside the lion’s gate. Most of us on t (Read More)he tour booked it to see the site, the museum was just a bonus. I was very disappointed that we couldn’t enjoy the site as expected. In order to see the top I had to speed walk straight up and then immediately back down to the bus. The site should have been the first thing we saw and then the museum. Also you should state that if you pay for the lunch add on, that it is a pre selected limited menu. The driver did great and the tour guide was ok. The guide wasn’t very engaging and just rattled off facts to us. It was hard to follow them because they struggled with their words or would just stop talking mid sentence.

very good one-day trip from Athens. If you are interested in historical spots, very recommend. The itinerary is a bit long, and each point will not stay for a long time, but it is already enough for a (Read More) short visit.

The food at the restaurant was kind of disappointing. The tour was good otherwise, and transportation was very comfortable.

Mycenae is an amazing place to visit if you are into history. Napflio looks really beautiful and seems to be absolutely worth a visit. For me, both these visits were way too short and very hurried. I' (Read More)d prefer to visit 1 or 2 places well over this concept of 1hr at every stop.

Mycenae is a must see for me, an unforgettable experience walking around a Bronze Age citadel. I had to leave the guide to have enough time to enjoy it, as they really spent too much time in the museu (Read More)m or waiting for people to use the toilet. We also stopped in a town called Nafplio, would have been nice to have had a bit more time there. I would also suggest a more focused explanation of history when on the bus. Still a great trip all in all.
