Discover elaborate interiors and vaulted cellars, and learn about the man behind this gigantic house, Nicolas Fouquet, King Louis XIV's Minister of Finance. After Fouquet entrusted the design of Vaux-le-Vicomte to a renowned architect, the king took offense and threw the minister in prison. When you've finished inside, stroll outside to discover the château's 40 hectares of fountains, flowerbeds and vast lawns.
