Itinerary
Our driver will pickup you from desire location New Delhi. The Humayun's Tomb is a historic monument located in Delhi, India. The tomb is an excellent example of Mughal architecture and is considered a precursor to the Taj Mahal. It was commissioned by Hamida Banu Begum, the wife of Mughal Emperor Humayun, in the mid-16th century. Garden Char Bagh: The tomb is set in the center of a large Persian-style garden known as a "char bagh," divided into four main parts by walkways or flowing water. The garden is a prominent feature of Mughal garden design and represents paradise in Islamic tradition. Main Tomb Structure: The main tomb structure is built of red sandstone, with white and black marble embellishments. It stands on a high, wide terraced platform with two double-storied arched gateways on the south and west. Dome and Chhatris: The central dome of the tomb is double-dome, a distinctive feature of Mughal architecture. The corners of the tomb are adorned with small pavilions or chhatris. Geometric Patterns and Calligraphy: The exterior and interior of the tomb are adorned with intricate geometric patterns and delicate calligraphy from the Quran. The use of marble and sandstone in contrasting colors adds to the visual appeal. Humayun's Grave: The cenotaph of Emperor Humayun is placed in the central octagonal chamber of the tomb. The actual grave is in a chamber below the ground level. Restoration and UNESCO World Heritage Site: The tomb underwent extensive restoration in the 20th century and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. Surrounding Structures: The complex also includes other structures such as the Barber's Tomb, Isa Khan's Tomb, and various gateways. End tour with sweet memory.
