Itinerary
Experience Goa's Portuguese heritage on a guided walking tour filled with historical stories and personal anecdotes. Learn the history as you admire historical monuments, including the Church of St. Francis of Assisi and Se Cathedral. Meet your guide at the Viceroys Arch in Old Goa and begin your walking tour. Marvel at the impressive buildings in the area and listen to insightful stories and facts from your guide, including Goa’s history as a former capital. Continue to the Church of St. Catherine and trace the arrival of the Portuguese in India, who called the area “the Rome of the East.” Walk past the ruins of Old Goa to Se Cathedral, the largest church in Asia. Admire the decorative frescoes in the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, which depict the life of the patron saint. Afterward, enter the Basilica of Bom Jesus, which houses the remains of St. Francis Xavier. Notice: Temporary Changes to Old Goa Heritage Walk Itinerary Due to the Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St. Francis Xavier from 21st November 2024 to 6th January 2025, access to Se Cathedral, St. Francis of Assisi, and Basilica of Bom Jesus will be limited. As an alternative, the Old Goa Heritage Walk will include visits to: Our Lady of Rosary Church St. Augustine Church Site The visits to Viceroy's Arch and St. Cajetan's Church will remain unchanged.
