The Pettah Market or Manning Market is an open market in the suburb of Pettah in the city of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Being one of Colombo's busiest places, the area may seem a little chaotic at first glance but if you know what to get on which street then you are going to walk out with some cool stuff at surprisingly low prices. One can find a wide range of goods right from electronics to fashion accessories and market vendors selling anything from fresh vegetables, fruits to meat and seafood.
The good market is one of the exciting local markets in Sri Lanka where local people set up small shops and sell mostly food items. It was started as a mission-driven social and solidarity economy initiative to promote products and services that are “good for the planet, good for the country, and good for everyone”. It is a small cheerful market set up every Saturday and is known to sell locally produced organic goods.
The Pettah Floating Market is a landmark in Colombo which opened to the public in the year 2014 and is at the Bastian Mawatha on the Beira Lake. The entrance is on the west side of the market area where there's a wood-carved flanking marked 'The Floating Market'. The floating market is a series of pavilions constructed on the far end of the restored Beira lake between the Pettah bus station and the railway station. There are about ninety trade stalls and shops along the waters, with vendors selling fruits, vegetables and flowers on the wooden boats floating lazily on the lake.
