Me and my wife both senior citizens took the Bhutan trip through Sri Balaji Tours and Travels. Right from the moment we stepped out at Bagdogra airport where a car was waiting to pick us up we didn't (Read More) have to worry about anything. On arrival at Jaigaon Mr Omkar took us thru immigration and checked us in at the hotel in Phuntsholing. Next morning we drove to Thimphu in a comfortable six seater suv with our guide Mr Gem who was indeed a real gem with his knowledge of his country and his helpful nature. During the drive he kept us engaged with his inputs about Bhutan, its culture and people and had ready answers to our queries. On the six day tour our stay was very comfortable in very good hotels and also food was excellent.( Breakfast and dinner being part of the package). During lunch our guide gave us a taste of different Bhutanese food every day. The itinerary was very relaxed, covering all places. In addition our guide also gave us the experience of watching an archery competition and dart throwing too. We also stopped at markets, scenic places and riversides whenever we felt like. Our guide helped us with shopping too. Mr Tenzing was an excellent driver and with him and the guide with us we felt very safe and carefree. In short the entire tour was a breeze with excellent food and very good stay everywhere and the itinerary was very well planned. Thanks to Mr Omkar and RajGupta from pick up at airport at Bagdogra and drop back on the 7th day everything went very well and I would say we got more than what we expected in terms of experience and value for money spent.

Guided Experiences: Many package tours in Bhutan come with a knowledgeable guide who can accompany you throughout your trip. These guides are well-versed in Bhutan's history, culture, and traditions. They can provide in-depth information about the sites you visit, facilitate interactions with locals, and help you gain a deeper understanding of Bhutan's unique way of life.

When booking a package for Bhutan, it's important to know that you should book through a licensed tour operator recognized by the Tourism Council of Bhutan. We work with licensed travel agents who can help in designing a perfect itinerary.

Minimum Daily Package: Bhutan follows a policy known as the "Minimum Daily Package." This means that tourists are required to pay a fixed daily fee that covers their accommodation, meals, transportation, and the services of a licensed guide. This policy is designed to promote sustainable and high-value tourism in the country.

Booking with a Tour Operator: To begin your journey to Bhutan, you must first select a licensed Bhutanese tour operator. They will help you plan your itinerary, apply for your visa, and handle all logistics. It's essential to book your trip well in advance, as the government has a limited number of visas allocated for tourists each year.

Bhutan Visa Approval: Once you finalize your travel plans with your chosen tour operator and make the necessary payment, they will apply for your visa clearance on your behalf. This process usually takes a few weeks. Once your visa is approved, you'll receive a visa clearance letter.

Visa on Arrival: You won't receive a traditional visa stamp in your passport before arriving in Bhutan. Instead, you'll present your visa clearance letter to the immigration authorities upon arrival at the Paro International Airport or another designated entry point. They will issue your visa, usually with a validity matching the duration of your tour.

Passport Validity: It's crucial to ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure date from Bhutan. This is a standard requirement for international travel.
