Flying is the easiest way to reach Lithuania. The country has three main international airports: Vilnius Airport (VNO) – The largest and busiest airport, serving 16 European airlines, including budget carriers Ryanair, Wizz Air, and Norwegian Air Shuttle. Kaunas Airport (KUN) – A hub for low-cost airlines, particularly Ryanair. Palanga Airport (PLQ) – Serves Lithuania’s coastal region, with flights from Scandinavian cities. Direct flights to Lithuania are available from most major European cities, making air travel the preferred option for international visitors.

Reaching Lithuania by Bus

International bus routes to Vilnius and Kaunas operate frequently from Latvia, Estonia, and Poland. Major bus operators include Lux Express, Ecolines, and FlixBus. Bus travel is often more affordable and frequent than rail, making it a preferred alternative for many travelers.

The Rail Baltica project is an ongoing high-speed rail initiative that will connect Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania by the 2030s. This €13 billion project aims to enhance connectivity across the region, with trains expected to run at speeds up to 155 mph. Future expansions may link to Poland and Finland, significantly improving international travel options.

Reaching Lithuania by Road

Lithuania has a well-developed road network, making travel by car or bus a convenient option. The country is accessible by road from Latvia, Poland, Estonia, and Belarus.

Driving to Lithuania: Lithuania’s highways are in good condition and connect to neighboring countries via European route E67 (Via Baltica), which links Lithuania to Poland, Latvia, and Estonia. A valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and vehicle registration are required for entry.
