1. Bear in mind - we had the 30th anniversary of the wedding and decided to visit Verona on that day. We expected something nice and not disappointing. On arrival, we received room #503. The room, besides being too small for the so-called "4-star hotel", was terribly stinking from the chemical cleaners used. The room had plastic panels and synthetic leather decorations, and all of this had the smell of a powerful chemical cleaner. We complained after 15 minutes in the room and asked to change. We were offered two other rooms, which also had a chemical smell, and chose the less stinky one.
2. I had asked reception if anything bad happened to room #503 because it seemed heavy disinfection chemicals were used. The answer was this room was cleaned today, but all rooms are cleaned with the same chemicals. That means all rooms have a chemical smell.
3. As I mentioned earlier, rooms at the were very small. By European standards, the 4-star hotel room must be a minimum of 13 square meters.
4. The mid-size hotel has only one lift, and at some times one has to wait when the lift goes up or down.
5. On the last evening of our stay the lift was broken, and a technician was repairing it. After the repair in the lift was a very strong smell of spilled petrol, and this smell was in the air until the next morning, the day of our checkout.
