Beautiful building, great staff

Clean, very comfortable beds, staff were extremely friendly and efficient. We mentioned a little issue with the bathroom taps at reception and were immediately offered a range of solutions including a room change. Really a five-star service in every respect! My main reason for booking this hotel over others was the building itself. I wanted to see the Frescohallen which serves as the breakfast room. It's spectacular! However, it's also a bar in the evening, so you don't have to stay in the hotel to experience it. Our room was in a modern annex and we didn't get to see any other interesting aspects of the building.

1) Breakfast was simply disappointing: all sorts of cooked stuff but if you wanted anything healthy, tough luck! Three types of melon was the only fruit, and there was only a tiny selection of cereals, I think it was one muesli and something else. I left hungry. The only positive about breakfast was that you could order proper coffee drinks such as cappuccino or latte, and of course the setting in the Frescohallen. 2) Turns out Bergen has a very active nightlife. I was kept awake from 1:30 to 4 am by groups of drunk people screeching in the streets. Nothing the hotel can do anything about, just the flip side of the coin with a very centrally located hotel.

Wonderful hotel, great experience overall!

The room was spacious and the bed was huge and very comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and the shower was very good. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean! All of the staff we interacted with were incredibly helpful and friendly. Location was great and we had a beautiful view of the water. The breakfast was fantastic with a huge variety of hot and cold food on offer. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Beautiful old building. We got a room on level 3 with windows that open with a lovely little bench to sit on. Room has a lovely feel. We booked standard queen but think we got upgraded to superior queen. Great room. Amazing breakfast with lots of variety. Food could be hotter. Would stay again.

Bathroom has no storage or shelf space. Coffee at breakfast is terrible.
