Sadly, having stayed in several MacDonald properties for leisure and business, I wouldnt say this property is up to standard. We stayed at the Kingshouse for the first half of our highlands trip (which was incredible) and here for the second half. The location is stunning but its much closer to a high 2 star property vs a 3 star property. Our toilet seat was stained with bleach, a towel was frayed at the edges, the USB charging plug sockets didnt work great, the one above the bed closest to the bathroom didnt work at all, there was only one plug socket in the room, the shower didnt always stay hotel when showering, the rooms werent turned down each day, the New Years Eve dinner service was poorly managed and the attitude from the chef wasnt fair on the front of house staff.
We booked here ahead of time for a few days, including New Years Eve, booked a table ahead of arrival - only to be met on the evening with less than 4 food options available. (No pizzas, no fish and chips, no beef burgers, no starters etc). They advised that everyone had pre booked their food, which is why they were so limited with what was left (surely if you know what guests are already having, you know what youre going to need to stock up on) and we advised that despite pre booking our stay, it was never communicated with us prior to, and/or, upon our arrival that we had to prebook our meal. (We would have done if we had known).
We ordered scampi and chips and a portion of chips. Around 4 mins later, we went up to ask if we could add a chicken burger to the menu, only to be told that the kitchen was closedwe werent impressed with this considering the staff knew our arrival time and very baffled how 4-5 mins prior, we had been offered a chicken burger and now it was not available (we were the last order). The lovely lady at the bar, who took the order was very apologetic and I imagine it was her who managed to convince the chef to provide 2 portions of chips (thank you).
