The following points are made to help the owners focus on some key issues that need to be addressed and are not said to be critical. Key access - the key box is difficult to access owing to neglect and weathering - WD40 would help! No cooker instructions or microwave guidance despite the folder present saying that it was. Probably based on access difficulties, especially in the cramped bedrooms, cleaning had only been done where places were easily accessed or visible. I dropped an item behind a cupboard: Moving it to retrieve it identified months of fluff and minor rubbish. No black bags for laundry were provided as stated. I found a large blue laundry bag under a single bed. Pulling it out dragged a lot of fluff, dust etc with it, again indicating a long period of neglect. The cooker was filthy inside with oven trays caked in burnt on matter and under the kitchen bin bag, old tea bags and dishwasher tablets plus some fluid was found when emptying the bin on Saturday. The lounge window ledge had lots of spider droppings, dust and dirt along it as well as a missing piece to the blind. The blind in the double bedroom had no chords to open the slats, only to drag it across. Testing but not using the bath taps, one is loose and has washer or thread problems (hence not using it in case it didn't turn off properly). Finally despite being asked not to park on the driveway, a grey Ford van partially blocked the driveway by the shop everyday - probably belonging to the shop owner.
We have no idea who does the cleaning and maintenance - it may not be the owner hence the need to deal with whomever does. Despite the seemingly critical list above, we were reasonably comfortable despite the bedroom crowding and lack of suitable hanging space and enjoyed the stay. The cleaning and small maintenance issues should be addressed and could be quite quickly. They appeared to be from neglect and/or someone not doing their job properly.
