Breakfast was good and served to the table. Friendly and helpful staff
TV was pixelled - poor quality reception. We wanted to watch TV because weather was poor.

    Great shower and lovely Paula
Greatest asset to Hotel is Paula at breakfast! Lovely lady! Also ..my room had a Great shower..room 3 on ground floor (had good pressure) Heating worked quickly to warm up the room.
Bed was a bit lumpy Heater display quickly changed to "errr3" and altho the heating continued to work the display kept flashing all night! This was a little annoying! (Maybe staff should check heater?) Also the heater disappears behind curtains which doesn't help keep room warm so I stuffed them onto the windowsill to make sure room warmed up...maybe the heater should be on a different wall? (Given that most people are overnighting here having a heater during the night is really handy especially if it heats the room and not just the windows!)

Very comfortable stay and will book again IF management get the TV signal in the rooms sorted
The Broughton is dated but clean and the staff excellent. Compliments especially to the cleaning staff who seem to be keeping dated facilities up to scratch as best they can. Everything was extremely clean in my room (10) which I was grateful for. Very comfortable bed and lovely soft towels. The bathroom was old but again clean. Black mould stains everywhere on the grouting above the bath but as a maintenance professional myself I appreciate these were unsightly stains left by mould not mould itself. The appearance could be easily improved with a grout pen though at little to no cost. The hot water tap again so old it was hard to turn off, probably washers need changing. And the fan was so noisy I sat on the toilet in the dark several times. However, considering the price of the rooms these are observations not so much complaints. Room wise it was a very comfortable experience given the price. The only thing you really need to get sorted quickly and properly is the signal to the tv. Apparently its an ongoing problem, the signal is so week on every channel that all you get is a strobing pixelated image. It was virtually unwatchable with fragmented sound to go with the fragmented pictures. I checked the connections to the aerial cable myself but it made no difference. You need to get someone in who really knows what they are doing to fix this because having a TV in your room is an integral part of the enjoyment in 2023/4. Dinner and breakfast was good and up to the usual high standard for its league that we have come to expect from the Hungry Horse. Not easy for the staff running a hotel and restaurant over Christmas so again, full compliments to them.

    Good value for money
Food was very good, a pity that you couldn't get a "full" English breakfast as they couldn't cook bacon or fried eggs? ! But evening meal and what we had were very nice.
Could do with a bit of decorating as the decor is very 1970's and the bathroom could do with some mould spray.

It was ok but not somewhere Id stay again
Location was good - close to M1 but tucked away so quiet at night
Walls thin - I could hear everything in rooms either side. Decor very dated. Lots of thick dust in wardrobe which covered my clothes. Lacking choice at breakfast.
