    Fantastic venue for small conferences!
    Attended the BBB Christmas event at The Chequers and was not my first (nor my last) stay at this lovely hotel. The staff are always really friendly and the breakfast and catering for our events is always AMAZING!

    Lovely staff and comfortable rooms, but a bit of a maze inside.
    The room was simple but comfortable, and had everything I needed for a couple nights stay. Sound does travel quite a lot for such an old building but nothing too bad. The bar downstairs was lovely, and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful.
    There are A LOT of stairs that should be advertised more to people booking. Took a number of minutes to get from the car park to the room. The layout is a bit of a maze because of the nature of the building.

    Its a beautiful property in need of TLC
    Location fabulous, staff on reception and bar very good, and cleaner we encountered were all friendly. Value for money, especially with breakfast in the price.
    The room very dated, generally clean, but no one had hoovered the carpet between room and wardrobe, so all dusty. Bathroom in desperate need of upgrade, mould on bath and tiles, this could be easily rectified, you need an additional bath mat, as bath slippy when getting out and nothing to hold onto. Floor around toilet needs a clean and dust in corners of floor. We had terrible nights sleep due to room above, which we could hear all of the conversations, I did speak to reception about being moved, but no suitable room available.
