I was really surprised because previously we were always able to request a room in an area where we can get majority of the ocean as our view vs being right over the pool. We were told that and one other room, in the same area, was the only option, yet the parking lot was almost empty, so I didnt understand how there werent any other rooms available. However, we were ok with it, because we love, well loved, The Godfrey Hotel. The upkeep is not up to par like it used to be. Our bathtub was so stained to the point where it looks extremely dirty. It was so bad that we didnt use the bathtub for our entire stay. Thank God for a clean sink and us not doing any activities to where a shower or full bath was needed. The vent to the air conditioner was broken up on the outside. The grounds were not up to par as usual. The decorative rocks around the trees were half gone. The bridge that had an areas where you can sit (I believe they officiated weddings in this area) was all broken up and torn down, yet a piece of the broken bridge was still there. The employees werent inviting and welcoming like they were before. When passing by those who were cleaning the rooms, we would speak and they would just ignore you, as if they were upset because they had to be at work. I even showed front desk and I believe it was the manager that I showed pictures to regarding the tub, and he just looked and stated, Oh, theyre just stained. It was as if he really didnt care. No one gave not one smile. Well, actually, the only one who was really nice and seemed to enjoy his job is the guy who works at the Bistro, in the lobby. I forgot his name, but he is always a pleasure when encountering him. From now on, my husband and I will either stay at a different hotel that has oceanfront options.
