The host was very friendly. The views were spectacular. Perfectly situated.
Self catering cabin lacking cutlery and crockery. Nothing to control the flies. Not enough coffee pods. Not enough seating in the cabin lounge. The oven was dirty. No TV. Just not up to standard for a self catering cabin/lodge.

    Beautiful and relaxing vacation
What a beautiful place with such breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere. It was nice to take a little break from the city to relax in wine country. Check-in was stress-free; I communicated with Helene regarding the approximate arrival time. My family and I ubered to the cabin with no issues whatsoever. We had no plans to rent a car; we wanted to relax and walk to a few neighboring wineries, and everything was okay. We walked to J Cle Roux and Louisvale wineries and ubered to others. Check-in was smooth. The cabin was beautiful, and the two bedrooms were adequate for our two-night stay. The bathroom was clean, and the shower was excellent with hot water. The living room/kitchen area had all the necessary amenities ( fridge, washer, and dryer ), a nice sitting area on the kitchen island, books to read, and a list of numbers to call for needs or emergencies. The back door in the living room gave way to a lovely backyard, perfect for morning coffee and relaxing in the evening while enjoying the views. There was a separate common lobby/lounge. It was cozy, with a fireplace, bar, and different wines and spirits. There was an honesty jar for drinks consumed, with whatever amount you thought was appropriate to give. Next to the lounge was an outdoor deck with a breakfast/ meal area. There was a heater that could be utilized at night if needed. A pool and a hot tub were available, but we did not get a chance to use either. We will have to come back. A load-shedding schedule was posted in the lounge, which was very helpful for planning. Breakfast was fantastic and the best I have had in a B & B. Excellent selection: coffee, tea, orange juice, yogurt with fruit, and three meal options. Compliments to the chef. Our host, Frank, was excellent! He made sure all our needs were addressed. He also prepared a Braai for us on Thanksgiving day, which was delicious and greatly appreciated. Frank was professional, witty, and such a kind soul.
cons -not really a con, but you might not enjoy your stay if you do not love animals. I am okay with animals, but the cats were sometimes too close, especially during meals. -The dog barked a lot one night and kept us awake, unsure what was happening. -Blinds with cords are dated and can be a pain to operate. -Horrible Wi-Fi in the rooms, best in the shared lounge area. -In the future -generators will be helpful to curb load-shedding issues. These are just minor issues that did not hinder our stay; honestly, the pros outweighed the cons.

    Relaxation in a nut shell
Friendly staff, great attention to detail. Lots of facilities including the pool and hot tub.The Swiss Cabin feel of the communal areas with the log fire is fab.
The only access to food at night is to go out or order in. A small snack or sandwich service would be helpful, but this i# only minor compared with 5he overall place.

We had a fantastic five night stay in The Barrel Room. Everything exceeded our expectations. The breakfast was lovely and we also enoyed some cheese platters in the evening. The big common lodge room with the fire place was magic and the surroundings beautiful. Helene, Kobus and their staff were so helpful and also arranged a private wine tour for us from the lodge. Uber service to and from Stellenbosch worked perfectly. Gunilla and Bjorn Jacobson
The only negative thing was that the two dogs were barking loudly in the garden in the middle of the night a few times.
