I have never complained before about anywhere we have stayed as I am not the sort and appreciate the knock on effect this can have. This experience however was simply awful. When we first arrived, the villa seemed nice enough and the host was welcoming. On our first day we noticed that there was a strong smell of chlorine in the pool but did not really question it. The children ( who have swam in many pools previously with no problems before whatsoever), of course wanted to get straight in. A little while after doing so they complained that it tasted funny and after swimming for less than an hour said that their skin felt itchy and burning. When they got out we quickly realised something was wrong. We contacted the owner who apologised and sent the pool maintenance man around. He initially advised us that the level of chlorine was too high, removed the cracked chlorine dispenser from the pool ( took this away with him), treated it and advised us to stay out of the pool for 2 hours for the level to settle. Later however, he denied this, as did the owner who proceeded to suggest that our childrens chlorine burns had been caused by them playing with toys! On medical advice our children couldnt swim for 5 further days. Luckily at that stage we were able to use a pool at our friends villa around the corner. We obviously did not use the pool at this villa again. Added to this was the fact that there was an ant infestation and you couldnt leave any food even in the cupboards! We loved this area of Fuerteventura which is ideally located and would return but certainly never to this villa!
