I have to confess I am a conservation architect so am pretty fussy on detailing/finish and new/old build interface.
Room 8. Initial very nice, mix of brass door furniture, light switches, plugs, light fittings etc. mix of polished chrome, brushed and brass.
The mirror frames in the bathroom were poorly mitred (or joint opened up), not painted on the back of frame so the timber shows in the reflection at the edge. From sitting in the bath the bottom had not been painted and looked a mess.
Sitting on loo the grey plastic waste pipe to the basin looked poor as did the pipe hole in the wall.
Mock panelled door into bathroom was a bit of a disappointment, would have expected a real framed and panelled door to architecturally join the sense of being in an old part of the hotel into these extension rooms, rather than s modern off te shelf 'fake' door.
For future reference if fitting pre-made cornices: it is better to have plain mouldings so when it joins in corners there is no problem with pattern match. The bathroom had a rope effect, this hardly ever matches at mitres then just gives a cheap BnB en-suite shunted into room vibe. The pilaster/brackets framing the bath should really have held up a fake beam to give them meaning, the panel flat across their backs was just an architectural oddity, a better framed bath recess would added more to the room.
