We have stayed at C & H several times in the past but something definitely wrong this time - V sad.

Building, location

Room - Dirty, cobwebs, heating turned off, damaged bed frame Restaurant- Very slow to non existent service. In spite of booking we waited more than half an hour for service, main course served on cold plates, asked whether we wanted a dessert, a menu was brought but that was the last we saw of the waitress. Breakfast , again served on stone cold plates, had the 9.00+ breakfast, no cereals, no toast offered and they wanted to charge extra for green tea.

Didn't meet expectations or pictures

The staff were lovely and friendly and it was really handy location for getting around derby. Clean sheets and towels. Nice and warm.

The family room smelt musty, had lots of damp, and mould. The rising damp was around the wall where the bed was with plaster and wallpaper bursting off. The bathroom wall was covered in black mould around sink/mirror. There was damage to an unusuable door to the side of the bedroom wall, possibly old barn/stable door at the bottom that went directly into the carpark. Wind blew through it, and my son moved his bed far away as he was worried a mouse would come through. Sadly, it should have had a great review as staff were so friendly in the restaurant and the place was lovely and warm. The room was a great side for a family but you cannot rent out mouldy rooms, especially with children. I arrived in the evening after a 4hr journey and my son was very tired. The place was fully booked online and had a family funeral in the morning to go to, so no point (or energy) kicking off or trying to swap rooms. We were up and out early doors and grateful it was only one night.
