My Christmas was ruined. Upon check-in, the desk clerk displayed a questionable pause at my booking from the booking.com website. I asked what was wrong, but then she just offered me a cookie and no real explanation. She said the restaurant would be open that evening 12.24 and that they served wonderful food. When I returned that evening for a good dinner, I was told no staff came in to work and It wasn't open afterall. I was instructed to travel up rt 60 for lots of places to eat. Yeah, not exactly true on Christmas eve. Oh well.
--Before arriving to the hotel, I called to discuss and prepare for all of this and to question the required covid mask policy mentioned in my confirmation email. I expressed this was an unwelcome surprise. The desk agent said this was an old correspondence from Hilton and should disregard it. He also promised a microwave for.my room in liu of the planned Christmas day 12.25 restaurant closure. Upon check-in I was denied this and it was not delivered to my room.
I found the room with the King size bed. The bed was sunk in the entire middle which made for a horrible sleeping surface. I had to end my trip early from these issues. I was told I would not be refunded for checking out a day early by another rude desk clerk. I wished her a Merry Christmas and left.
I picked Hilton for a reason, but this location did not measure up to the expectation or reputation with which I am familiar. I will look elsewhere at other companies for a nice place to stay next time. I am very disappointed I spent a lot of money on this vacation stay at Doubletree Hilton Williamsburg.
In the end, I drove home hungry and sore from a lack of much needed rest.
