The breakfast and bar drinks were awful. And the man running the breakfast service was the grumpiest staff you could meet . He bangs his plate on the table and takes forever to come around . If you are a foreigner it seems you have to wait around for much too long before someone takes your order. And the breakfast was so bad that we only had it on the first day (we had some to go on the last day as we had an early start but couldnt eat it too) despite having paid for breakfast included. Eggs were hard and stale , the bread was terrible & the cold meats even worse.
Dinner was average but the bartender does need some basic crash course on how to make drinks. As a trained bartender myself, the bartender is either not very good / trained or just cant be bothered. The drinks didnt have the right quantity of mixtures and were one dimensional in taste. Despite this, the waitress tried to tell my mum and I that everything is in it and when asked to change the drink said it was going to be the same thing if we reordered the same thing . Poor customer service here and just a blame dumping on the customer. This appears to be something recurrent and Hotel Berger apparently because when my mum tried to ring reception repeatedly one night - and cant get through - a member of staff again victim blamed us by suggesting we needed to press 9 (which is obviously what we did the whole night). It could either be genuinely that the phone was indeed engaged ?? Or my mum had maybe not dialled in correctly but instead of genuinely helping - the initial response was to blame the customer. I think some members of staff can learn basic customer service 101 and the hotel can improve their breakfast and drinks
